Saturday, May 16, Crown Heights came together once again to celebrate safe streets, art, and community connection with the annual Kingston Avenue Festival. Thanks to the S.O.S. staff and volunteers, YO S.O.S., Justice Community Plus, and all of our community partners, we offered a fabulous day full of arts activities, music, food, performance, and fun. Representatives from several local organizations led arts and crafts activities, including Kings County Hospital, Repair the World, SOUL Sisters, Trinity Grace Church, Legal Aid Society, Achievement First, Urban Art Beat, Diaspora Community Services, AHRC, Art Start, Teens Helping Eachother Out (THEO), Baily’s Cafe, BBox Radio, and many more.
With the help of our amazing and energetic MC’s, Derick Latif Scott and Jahshua Smith, we enjoyed fantastic performances from Houses on the Moon, Sophisticated Gents, New Bridges Academy, Rock Star, and more.
As always, the Crown Heights community came together to show how we can enjoy safe streets and strengthen our community. We’d like to thank everyone for helping us enjoy Kingston Ave. through song, dance, and performance. We look forward to a safe and fun summer in Brooklyn.
