The evening of Thursday, July 16, approximately 30 community members, clergy, youth organizers, Summer Youth Employment Program participants, and S.O.S. staff gathered at the corner of Schenectady and Dean to commemorate a shooting that took place early in the morning on July 14. S.O.S. Program Manager David Gaskin and S.O.S. Clergy Liaison Rev. Kevin Jones offered inspiring words about the importance of keeping peace in our communities. Shooting responses are an essential part of the work of S.O.S. Each time a shooting occurs within the S.O.S. catchment area, a response is organized so that we can publicly advocate for peace in our neighborhood. Thanks to all of the neighbors who help us raise our voices against violence in Crown Heights.
