On Thursday February 28th, a group of about fifty community members of all ages joined us for Neighbors in Action’s 2nd annual Black History Month event. The night was organized by team members from S.O.S and Youth Programs. The space was filled with young people creating art pieces based on famous African American art and African head wraps for give away. There was also a table for people to play board games and for making original buttons with S.O.S logos and Black American cut outs. The night started off with some powerful youth performances of spoken word, hip hop, and song, and ended with a lively Jeopardy game, which quizzed the audience on Black history and pop cultural references. It was a night where people got to bond together, inspire one another, and drop some knowledge!
