On Dec. 7th, Save Our Streets Clergy Organizer Kevin Jones organized the 2nd Annual Night of Remembrance for families who lost victims to gun violence. Over seventy attendees poured into the Bethany Community Center for a night of healing. There was one group session for the adults where the attendees openly shared their experiences and how they are coping now. There was also a youth session going on upstairs that was tremendous. A delicious dinner was served and thoroughly enjoyed. A prayer was offered for the families present who walked away with therapeutic aids to assist them on their journey. As a result of this magnificent evening, a monthly 3rd Wednesday evening peer led support group will begin on January 16th at 6:30pm. It will be held at one of Neighbors in Action’s offices at 1644 St Johns Place (between Ralph Ave and Buffalo Ave). This will provide ongoing support for families of homicide victims. Several attendees have said they will be attending the Night of Remembrance again and can’t wait until this time next year.
