Monday, January 11 over 200 people gathered in Bed-Stuy Restoration Plaza for Bed-Stuy United Prayer Rally and Vigil. The event, organized by Council Member Robert Cornegy and several faith communities, was an opportunity for neighbors, religious leaders, members of the police force, and activists to gather in prayer against gun violence. Several local pastors and an imam led the group in prayer. S.O.S. Bed-Stuy staff Derick Latif Scott and David Grant attended the vigil. In regards to the continued effort for peace and civil rights, Mr. Scott said, “We started it, but we have a long way to go.”
