The S.O.S. Bed-Stuy Summer Kickoff on Saturday, June 10th, was a great day of fun, food, activities, and performances. There was a bouncy house, basketball shoot, face painting, nail painting, double dutch, FDNY touch a truck with water, a mobile library, young performers, and tablers sharing information with the community. Good music played in the background and the S.O.S. Bed-Stuy team had a chance to engage and meet new community members on Dekalb Ave between Tompkins Ave and Marcy Ave for over four hours. Residents who did not know about S.O.S. got a chance to come out on the street and learn about S.O.S. and the work that they do as well as have fun with neighbors. The S.O.S. Bed-Stuy team gained new allies in spreading the message to #StopShootingStartLiving and had a great time without any conflicts.
If you missed it, don’t worry- the S.O.S. Bed-Stuy Back to School Festival is on September 8th on the same block, on Dekalb Ave between Tompkins Ave and Marcy Ave. See you around the neighborhood!
