On Saturday, February 14, participants and staff from S.O.S., YO S.O.S., and Make It Happen joined Cure Violence programs from all over New York in a basketball tournament called the All-Star Peace Games.
“Peace Games” is a city-wide event for neighbors and families to come together to promote a message of anti-violence. Several current and former NBA players, including Isaiah Thomas and Teresa Weatherspoon, were present to represent their charitable organizations and show support for Cure Violence.
The event took place at the Harlem Police Athletic League where program participants had a chance to play ball and cheer on their peers, all in support of creating safer and healthier neighborhoods across New York City.
Participants received jerseys, bags, and plaques to gather signatures from the celebrity guests at the event. We are glad we were able to join in this city-wide effort to stop shootings and killings and look forward to future Cure Violence events!
