On Saturday, June 20th, approximately 40 community members, about one third of them youth, gathered for breakfast and dialogue at Bethany Methodist Church on St. Johns Pl. in Crown Heights. With the help of S.O.S. Clergy Action Network Executive Director Rev. Kevin Jones, youth and adult participants took part in a lively and eye-opening conversation about generational gaps and the barriers young people face in school and on the streets.
Youth had the chance to share some of their reality with adults in the community, speaking about the challenges of gang violence and drugs. The conversation left participants hungry for me and eager to participate in more dialogues and projects to bridge the gap between generations.
