On October 14 and 15, the Legal Hand Program hosted two days of intensive training for its new volunteers. During these trainings, over 70 volunteers heard presentations from lawyers at NYLAG and The Legal Aid Society on a variety of topics, including the important difference between “legal advice” and “legal information.”
Legal Hand is a new program at The Mediation Center that trains volunteers to provide other community members with legal information regarding issues such as housing, immigration, employment, and public benefits. This first group of volunteers will commit to working one shift at Legal Hand once per week for a four-month cycle.

Hi Jett,
I am a 3rd yr. a Brooklyn Law School, and I live around the corner from your office. I was wondering if there are opportunities to volunteer with Legal Hands?
Sincerely,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! We ask volunteers to commit to one shift per week for a four month cycle. Our next cycle will begin in March. Let me know if you would like to be on our mailing list for information about trainings for the next cycle!
Best,
Jett
