On Saturday May 14 over 400 community members gathered for our 6th annual Kingston Avenue Festival! Every year this event brings together Crown Heights residents to celebrate the talent, fun, and creativity in our neighborhood.
When they weren’t playing on the bouncy house and bouncy slide, youth in attendance had their faces painted, wrote messages in sidewalk chalk, entered the donut-eating contest, covered their faces in sticky cotton candy, played basketball, and danced on stage! There were also resource tables for adults and families providing a wide variety of information about services available in Brooklyn and Crown Heights specifically. We want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended this year’s Kingston Avenue Festival! In addition to all of the wonderful people who attended the event, we were lucky to have over 20 community organizations tabling with resources, 20 performances from local groups, and dozens of volunteers contributing to this year’s Kingston Avenue Festival. You can find more pictures from the event in our facebook album.
Thank you to all of the organizations who came to table and provide resources at this event: 596 Acres, Bailey’s Cafe, Black Alliance for Just Immigration, Brooklyn Defender Services, Brownsville Community Justice Center, Camp Bed-Stuy, Diaspora Community Services, Fly Yoga Arts, Fresh Air Fund, Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation, Guns Down Life Up, Legal Aid Society, New Bridges Elementary School, New York Restoration Project, Repair the World, Pratt Area Community Council, Seamen’s Society for Children and Families, SCO Family of Services, Sneakerbeatz, Tehuti Ma’at, The Osborne Association, Trinity Grace Church, United Health Care, and Wellcare.
