On Wednesday, July 8th, Save Our Streets Bed-Stuy gathered for a shooting response after the fatal shooting of a 54 year-old man over the holiday weekend. Members of S.O.S. Bed-Stuy, S.O.S. Crown Heights, the Mediation Center, and the community large attended. Staff spoke out over a bullhorn reminding the community that it is everyone’s responsibility to put an end to violence and build neighborhoods where neighbors know, respect, and take care of one another.
S.O.S. holds shooting responses each time someone is shot in the Bed-Stuy or Crown Heights target areas. A shooting response is a peaceful community gathering where a shooting incident has taken place. The purpose of the response is to express our concerns and make a statement that shootings and killings are not acceptable in our community.
