On Saturday September 19 around 100 people joined Save Our Streets Bed-Stuy for their Stop The Violence Peace Walk. The walk was organized in collaboration with the Anthony Lendel McCrae Foundation, 500 Men Making a Difference, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, the Chris S. Owens Foundation, Coalition for Section 3 Employment, Man-Up Inc, and PPEE.
Community members and organizations gathered at 677 Lafayette street and marched down Tompkins Avenue. The march called for peace in response to the loss of 94 individual’s lives to violence in Brooklyn this year. Organizations in attendance also spoke out against the lack of employment opportunities and resources in the community as a root cause of violence.
