On Saturday, April 22nd, S.O.S. Bed-Stuy held a  Peace March to spread the message of a shooting free Bed-Stuy. They were joined by the Mediation Family and members of Cure Violence: S.O.S. Crown Heights, YO S.O.S., Make It Happen, BIVO, S.O.S. Bronx, and Man Up, Inc. They were also joined by Unity Prep Charter School and Assemblywoman Tremaine Wright in saying “enough is enough.” It was a rainy day, yet the march continued through the streets of Bed-Stuy with the message of peace and safer streets for all. This was an opportunity for the community to see that S.O.S. will be present no matter the circumstances.

S.O.S. Bed-Stuy Program Manager Tiffany Murray stated,

“We are the answer we seek when it comes to ending the violence in our communities and being a unified front of Save Our Streets, community members, stakeholders, and the youth was heard loud and clear!”

Impassioned marchers chanted “Stop Shooting, Start Living,” “Guns Down, Life Up,”  “Who Matters, You Matter,” “Bed-Stuy, Stay Alive” through the cloud shaded streets and falling rain. Community members and business owners came out to cheer, wave, yell agreement, and some even joined in the march for peace.

Murray agreed,

“Our message is clear. We are here for change and we will keep working in the streets of Bed-Stuy until the mission of peace is achieved.”
