On Sunday, September 16th, a 56 year-old black woman was non-fatally shot in the abdomen. The following Wednesday, S.O.S. Crown Heights organized a shooting response at the site of the incident; 229 Albany Avenue. A significant number of people came to show their support by holding posters, handing out palmcards, and giving their presence to help make S.O.S.’s mission known. Among the 72 attendees were community members and others representing G.M.A.C.C., Moms Demand Action, and Neighbors in Action staff. Thank you also to Brother B and Sister S who spoke on the bullhorn. Together, everyone let the neighborhood know that shootings aren’t normal and aren’t welcome in our community. #stopshootingstartliving
